VECTORS YEAAAH!
Records mmm. So I'm not really thinking about composition or anything yet, just starting to see whether making these objects is possible with shape. I can rearrange and recolour later. I can add backgrounds and scenes after I've decided on how I want the postcards to look.
I suck at perspective and angles so I should probably take a reference to see how the objects look from different viewpoints.
Plants innit. Like these lil' chaps and I really want to make a pattern with them. STICK TO THE TASK THOUGH, STELLA.
Have I jumped into Illustrator too soon? Maybe I should have spent longer planning and roughing in my sketchbook but I hope that these exercises will prove valuable in my understanding of the software.
Vinyl's starting to look almost-good. I don't know how to add highlights and shadows properly (ask Matt/look on YouTube), but this cheeky bit of temporary highlighting adds some sense of dimension to the flat, horrible shape it was before.
Vectors just aren't my thing. I'm getting the hang of using them but they just look so dull! I want so much to just make these towns as models in three dimensions, to create little dolls to pose in the positions.
This task is about graphic design and I am not a graphic designer.
I want to tell stories and I am struggling to see how that is possible with squares of colour on a screen.
Don't lose hope dude. Do not fret. Party on and embrace the shape.
