CHARACTER
I like to get inside the head of a character and bring it to life.
Like method acting, a character designer has to take on the role and experience it in order to understand it. I'm ready for the challenge and I want to use this task as a chance to be experimental, playful and inventive. I don't think I've shown the extent of my imagination just yet... now is my chance to make something exciting, not just interesting or pretty.
ONE WEEK? This can't be long enough to actually understand and KNOW these characters. It takes much longer to develop an entire being and to get to grips with a personality.

Creature Design
Changing perspectives, I am going to make creatures.
Thinking about the creatures I make as invented, living critters, not flat drawings. I don't know, the word 'creature' just feels much more REAL to me. It resonates with me because I've got so much passion for handmade special effects and puppetry.
Thinking about acting and storytelling as well as visual construction.
Starting to draw some gross trolls using references from the 'Creatures of the Night' book I took out of the library. Splicing animals together and making these creatures as disgusting as possible!
